Post Secondary Program

Community-Based Instruction:

• Provide training in the community to support independence in areas including mobility, safety, shopping, dining, phone usage, social skills, and community activity planning.

Personal Skills:

• Develop self-management, communication, health, safety, and personal finance skills.

Home Living Skills:

• Acquire kitchen safety, cooking, housekeeping, and leisure skills.

Career Exploration:

Facilitate career exploration through interest surveys, job observations & shadowing, volunteering, and job clubs.

Job Training:

Provide job training opportunities through on- and off-campus jobs, volunteer experiences, and/or paid work placements.

Work Skills Development:

Provide oppotunities to teach essential job skills to obtain and retain employment, such as
interviewing, communication, and social skills.

Job Portfolio Development:

Assist in creating job portfolios that include job experience, references, education, and resumes.

Job Placement and Support:

Provide direct support for job applications and job coaching for new hires.

Communication Skills:

Enhance conversational skills, friendship management, self-regulation, empathy, problem-solving, self-advocacy, and social boundary awareness.

Relationship Building:

Develop safe, healthy relationships, make positive choices and receive instruction on family life topics.

Assessment and Goal Setting:

Conduct assessments, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and set post-school goals.

Curriculum Integration:

Align curriculum, lessons, and activities with post-school goals to develop real-world skills.

Post-School Support Connections:

Facilitate linkages with agencies like San Andreas Regional Center, Medicaid, and the Department of Rehabilitation.

Adult Supports Exploration and Self-Advocacy:

Explore adult support options, attend resource fairs, and empower students to make informed decisions through self-advocacy.
